Billy Smoker aspires to develop aesthetically trendsetting products which can be sustainably manufactured in Australia whilst offering high-end value.

High temperature wet spray stove paint is a cost-effective alternative to porcelain (baked) enamel and is more capable of adhering to steel surfaces, at higher temperatures, than traditional engine / header / BBQ paints.

To ensure a best-of-class finish for its fire products, Billy Smoker has partnered with Stove Bright Paints Australia to secure US-based company, Forrest Technical Coatings’, industry leading high temperature wet spray stove paint. Furthermore, above and beyond the industry standard, Billy Smoker coats all its mild steel fire products with Stove Bright zinc paint.

Due to the composition of mild steel and the lower degree of rust protection provided by wet spray paints (including zinc) – all mild steel fire products will rust when exposed to moisture (including humidity). Depending on the conditions, surface rust can break through wet spray stove paints within weeks of unwrapping the product once exposed to moisture.

All being said, surface rust will not affect the performance of Billy Smoker products. For those concerned with the aesthetic of rust, we recommend placing a waterproof cover on the appliance when not in in use, in addition to giving the exposed surfaces a fresh coat of paint annually. For those desiring an ultra-low corrosion rate, Billy Smoker offers a stainless steel alternative for all its Open Fire Cookers.

Please consider your needs before making a purchase. If you have any additional queries, please do not hesitate to contact Billy Smoker.
